{"id":94,"date":"2016-11-06T13:02:02","date_gmt":"2016-11-06T18:02:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/azoreancoder.pw\/blog\/?p=94"},"modified":"2016-11-06T13:02:02","modified_gmt":"2016-11-06T18:02:02","slug":"samsung-galaxy-s5-issues","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/azoreancoder.pw\/blog\/archives\/samsung-galaxy-s5-issues","title":{"rendered":"Samsung Galaxy S5 and my issues with it"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/azoreancoder.pw\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/20151014T011249.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-96\" src=\"https:\/\/azoreancoder.pw\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/20151014T011249.jpg\" alt=\"20151014T011249\" width=\"835\" height=\"219\" srcset=\"https:\/\/azoreancoder.pw\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/20151014T011249.jpg 835w, https:\/\/azoreancoder.pw\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/20151014T011249-300x79.jpg 300w, https:\/\/azoreancoder.pw\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/20151014T011249-768x201.jpg 768w, https:\/\/azoreancoder.pw\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/20151014T011249-624x164.jpg 624w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 835px) 100vw, 835px\" \/><\/a><br \/>\nHi all,<\/p>\n<p>I have acquired a <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Samsung_Galaxy_S5\">Samsung Galaxy S5<\/a> recently and after getting it unlocked and cleaned up, I ran into a few issues while attempting to use a <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Custom_firmware\">custom firmware<\/a>\u00a0(<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/CyanogenMod\">Cyanogenmod<\/a>\u00a013), namely:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>No way to access the legacy menu key<\/li>\n<li>WEBm files cause the mediaserver thumbnail service to fail<\/li>\n<li>Visualization in the music player is not working even if enabled<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>I wasn&#8217;t gonna let that slide, seeing CM13 is lighter and overall better than any <a href=\"https:\/\/www.androidpit.com\/here-s-why-touchwiz-and-other-skins-are-bad-material-for-design\">Touchwiz rom<\/a> out there.<\/p>\n<p>So, let&#8217;s fix these issues!<\/p>\n<h2>No legacy menu key<\/h2>\n<p>This one was the easiest one to fix, here&#8217;s what you do:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Find your settings menu and open it<\/li>\n<li>Within settings, find the &#8216;Buttons&#8217; section<\/li>\n<li>Scroll down to, say, the home button, and choose &#8220;open\/close menu&#8221; as an action for either a double press or press+hold.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>This will make your home button also act as a legacy menu key.<\/p>\n<h2>WEBm files giving blank thumbnails<\/h2>\n<p>This one was a hard one. I was able to logcat Android while having this issue occur, which to me seemed to be triggered by MediaServer&#8217;s scanning service.<\/p>\n<p>Please note for this fix you will need a rooted file explorer or a custom recovery.<br \/>\nSimply <a href=\"http:\/\/azoreancoder.pw\/xda\/KLTE\/libOmxVdec.so\">DOWNLOAD<\/a> this file and replace it with its counter part in<strong> \/system\/lib\/\u00a0<\/strong>(And make sure you chmod this file to 644!)<\/p>\n<h2>Visualization not working in the default music player<\/h2>\n<p>Logcat is a godsend, through it I found out this was only a permission issue.
